Sarah Malik joined the faculty at Johnson and Wales Providence Campus in 1995 as an exchange professor from Switzerland. She was awarded Teacher of the Year in 2004 and has been at the Charlotte Campus since it opened. She studied Institutional Management and Hotel Catering at Manchester Metropolitan University and has an MBA with a focus on Global Marketing from Oxford Brookes University, Oxford, England.
She has worked for Bass Charrington Breweries, Hilton International and Queens Moat Houses where she was a Food and Beverage Director. She spent five years in Switzerland where she taught at César Ritz Hotel Schools and worked in numerous hotels.
Sarah Malik’s focus is on wine education. She has received a Diploma and is a Sommelier from the International Sommelier Guild and also holds the Advanced Wine and Spirits and a Diploma with Merit from the Wine and Spirit Education Trust of London. She is a member of the Society of Wine Educators and holds their Certified Specialist of Wine and Certified Wine Educators awards.
She visits numerous wine producing countries in the World and has spent time in Napa, Sonoma, Italy, France, England, Wales and Spain where she researches current trends in the wine industry. Over the last few years her focus has been on English and Welsh Sparkling Wines. She currently teaches beverage management classes in the School of Hospitality in the College of Management.
